André Godinho is a filmmaker that has been developing work in film and theatre.

Based in Lisbon, he studied at the portuguese film school (E.S.T.C.), where he made the short film 6 MINUTOS that won the Young Filmmaker Award at Curtas Vila do Conde (2002). He also attended the documentary course Les Ateliers Varan at the Gulbenkian Foundation, and is an Alumni from Berlinale Talents 2015.

He has directed several documentaries, TV docu-series, and fictional and experimental shorts. His short film UMA RAPARIGA IMATERIAL won the audience award and the jury award for Best Short Film at QueerLisboa 26 (2022).

He works regularly with other directors as script supervisor.

The scope of his work extends also to the stage, since 2000 he creates videos for dance, opera and theatre performances, and is a frequent collaborator of Lisbon based companies Teatro Praga and Cão Solteiro, whith whom he works as video-director, actor and co-creator.

2020 – SPA Autores prize for Best Entertainment Tv Show for ARMÁRIO
2003 – Special Mention for the film 6 MINUTOS at the International School Film Festival of Uruguay.
2002 – Young Filmmaker Award for the film 6 MINUTOS at the International Short Film Festival: Curtas Vila do Conde.

Education

2004 – Course on Documentary Directing by Les Ateliers Varan, in the Program Creativity and Artistic Creation at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation
1999/2003 – Studied Cinema, in the Cinematography field, at the Portuguese Film School: ESTC.
1998/1999 – Studied Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon: FBAUL.
